Overnight Jeep Safari is a great activity that no visitor can afford to miss. We will drive deep into the heart of the desert to see the surprisingly beautiful sunset over the golden sand dunes with its playful fusion of light and shadow, reaching our typical Nomad campsite where an authentic spicy Berber tagine is being prepared over an open fire. As the stars come out you can often hear the rhythmic beat of tribal drumming carried on the still night. The tour begins two hours before sunset. We will meet you at your riad or hotel in the desert at 5:30 PM (depending on sunset timing). The dunes of Erg Chebbi form a field approximately 60 km long and 25 km wide. The journey through the Erg can be experienced throughout the day. We'll stop to eat in an oasis where there is a small desert village. They will prepare a warm meal for us, sitting on the ground as the locals do. The trip through the dunes will take us through small oases, allowing us to enjoy panoramic dune views and experience the hamada (stone desert). We'll visit a virgin oasis in the desert near the Algerian border, approximately 40 km away, where the desert is absolute and life is completely wild. This excursion consists of seeing virgin desert during a two-hour 4x4 trip to an oasis only visited by Berber nomads. At the oasis we will eat and relax under palm trees. Throughout the trip we will make stops for photos, walking, and observing nature.
